Panorpa Communis
This is probably one
of the most, if not the most, macabre pictures I have taken so
far. What you see above this text, is "Panorpa Communis",
better known as the Scorpion fly, drilling holes in to it's victim,
to suck it completely dry. If it weren't for this accidental discovery,
I would never have guessed, that this beautiful looking insect, is such
a ferocious and predacious animal. Nevertheless, in it's own way, the
scorpion fly is still a wonderful creature to behold. Even though it's
table manners leave a lot to be desired.
